The Dipnet express - "Below the bridge"

Trip Description

*NEW for 2023 - It's all included! No more seperate credit card, booking or land use fees. No more Dipnet insurance or fuel surcharges.  What you see is what you pay! Now also included, Ice onboard the charter to ensure the freshness of your fish while underway and our new In camp self serve cleaning station with fresh water rinse (clean up after yourself and backhaul fish guts and dump in river). Optional self service commercial chamber sealing station available for an additional fee (includes two 5mm bags per fish). We still offer full service processing.

MUST BE ALASKAN RESIDENT TO PARTICIPATE

Personal use fisheries offer Alaskan's the possibility to harvest a years worth of premium salmon in relatively short amount of time. Sockeye fetch in excess of $15-20 per pound in our local grocery stores making a copper river sockeye worth nearly $80 per fish. Our charters offer safe and reliable access to this resource for all eligible residents with unmatched harvest potential.

THE DIPNET EXPRESS
The Dipnet Express was born from the high demand for our dipnet charters and Alaska's never ending summer sun.  We wanted to offer a compressed charter (2-1/2 hours) for those dipnetters who are short on time,  or were not able to board our other charters earlier in the day. Departing at 6pm, this is a great option for walk-ups and Alaskan's who are traveling to McCarthy or to Valdez with only a short window of time to try and net some Copper River Salmon from one of our boats.   Stop by, call or book online today!

TRIP DETAILS

This is a fun and educational experience that you can share with friends and loved ones from the safety of our charter boats on the Copper River. We will demonstrate location specific dipnetting techniques and work with you throughout the charter to perfect those skills. If needed we will assist you in removing fish from your net, bonk, gill and place in totes. Learning how to do this efficiently gets your net back in the water faster to maximize your time on the water. Charter lasts about 6 hours and includes loading boat, safety briefing, travel time to and from the fishery, transferring gear at beach, a dipnet demonstration, set up and break down of nets and offloading catch after your charter. We will provide flake ice for keeping your catch fresh while onboard. You will need Ice after your charter for the ride home, and this is for sale at camp.

WHAT IF FISH AND GAME CLOSES THE DIPNET FISHERY?

We will work with you to reschedule your charter to another in season date and time, transfer it to a Kenai charter or offer charter credit towards a charter for the following season.

THE REGULATIONS

The Copper River is divided into two sub districts for management purposes. Users may participate in only ONE of these two fisheries in any regulatory year.

The Chitina Subdistrict  is classified as a personal use fishery, and dipnets are the only allowable gear. Sport fishing license is required for this fishery. Permits are available at local retailers such as Fred Meyer's, Sportsman's Warehouse, & Mountain View Sports. The permit costs $15. This fishery is managed weekly by Emergency Orders. This is based on fish counts from Miles Lake sonar station.

RESIDENTS MUST HAVE THE COPPER RIVER CHITINA PERSONAL USE PERMIT-Click for Permit Information.
